Kennel Assistant
Location: Galesburg, MI
Gillette Obedience Training is seeking a reliable, hardworking Kennel Assistant to support daily operations at our professional dog training and boarding facility serving Kalamazoo, Portage, Battle Creek, and the surrounding West Michigan area.
Position Overview
The Kennel Assistant plays a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and structured environment for all dogs in our care. This position involves hands-on animal care, facility upkeep, and supporting training and boarding operations.
Responsibilities
- Feeding, watering, and monitoring dogs
- Cleaning kennels, runs, and common areas
- Supervising dogs during scheduled exercise or turnout
- Observing and reporting health or behavioral concerns
- Assisting with basic handling and structured routines
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the facility
- Providing professional and courteous interactions with clients when needed
Qualifications
- Comfortable working with dogs of all sizes and temperaments
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Ability to follow structured procedures and directions
- Physically capable of lifting 40+ lbs and standing for extended periods
- Reliable transportation and punctuality required
- Prior animal care experience preferred but not required
